See the McGee Roadster on the Move and in TRJ #76

The McGee Deuce roadster, one of the most iconic hot rods ever, is now the focus of an exciting full-length documentary by the Historic Vehicle Association. Packed with vintage and contemporary action footage, and interviews with guys like Ed Iskenderian, the roadster’s current owner, Bruce Meyer, and TRJ senior contributor Pat Ganahl and senior editor Greg Sharp, the film captures the spirit of the car and the era it was born from. Click here to see a one-minute teaser and the full 20-minute documentary.
Rodder’s Journal #76, which is hitting subscribers’ mailboxes now, features a full-color gatefold of the McGee roadster, the Hirohata Merc and the “Gypsy Rose” Impala as part of a six-page story on the Historic Vehicle Association. In the spring of 2017, the cars were displayed in the HVA’s “Cars at the Capital” exhibit in Washington, D.C.—an event created to publicize their efforts to document automobiles significant to America’s culture and history with a National Historic Vehicle Register.
The McGee roadster is the second of the three cars to be featured in an HVA documentary. Jesse Valadez’s Gypsy Rose is explored in a 20-minute feature that can be seen here, and Jim McNiel’s Hirohata Merc is up next. We’ll let you know when that debuts, but for now, check out the history of the McGee Deuce. You can buy your own copy of TRJ #76 here—or subscribe and receive TRJ for the next year. And if you’re interested in learning more about the HVA, you can visit www.historicvehicle.org.

Cheers!
