Berkeley sponsorship spurs Salamanca onto
first win of the season
The CF Salmantino UDS played its best game of the season, securing its first win by beating La Bañeza 4-0 just a few days after Berkeley Minera became its official sponsor.
The club was formed in 2013 to keep the football spirit alive amongst the longstanding and dedicated Salamanca football fans following the dissolution of the previous club, which had a proud history dating back back to the first half of the 20th century, due to lack of funding.
Paco Bellon, Chief Operating Officer, keen footballer and avid Real Madrid supporter, commented:
“Although sadly my playing days are over, I am delighted on behalf of the Company to be supporting CF Salamantino UDS.
We will be investing €250 million in a region that has suffered from lack of investment and has been badly hit by unemployment. We are very proud to be backing a club with such a great history which is hopefully now set for a great future.”
