RHN Families With Children-  We wanted to make sure you are aware of a few fun events going on in and around Russian Hill this month:

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd from 4-6pm: RHN FAMILY NIGHT AT HELEN WILLS PLAYGROUND
Please join Russian Hill Neighbors for a fun afternoon gathering at Helen Wills Playground!  RHN will provide snacks and other activities for the kids, and it is a wonderful way to end the week and connect with other families with children in the neighborhood.  This week we will try to facilitate some discussion among parents about the wonderful daycare, preschool and elementary school choices in San Francisco, so please come prepared with your questions (and opinions/answers!) about our local schools.  The event is open to all, so please spread the word to any other Russian Hill families who might be interested!  

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd from 1-3pm: MEET THE BUGS! AT POLK STREET COLE HARDWARE
Cole Hardware on Polk Street is hosting is super fun, creepy crawly event where kids can explore the fantastic lives of beetles, centipedes, tarantulas, walking sticks, scorpions, and more!  Come by Cole Hardware for 10% off your purchase and a chance to introduce your children to the extraordinarily diverse world of insects and other arthropods and learn about their key role in the web of life!

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 24th from 11am-4pm: 7TH ANNUAL MARINA FAMILY FESTIVAL
The Marina Family Festival  returns for its seventh year on Sunday September 24th from 11am to 4pm. Hosted by the Marina Community Association, this unique event will be held on the historic Marina Green with a multitude of attractions: Petting Zoo + Puppies of all ages; Bounce Houses; Face Painting; Arts & Crafts; Rock Climb Wall; Pie Contest; Live Music; Beer and Wine Garden by The Dorian; Gourmet Food Trucks by Off the Grid; and other interactive activities and games for everyone. Demonstrations by SFPD & SFFD and much more for the whole family to enjoy. There will be a limited number of VIP TABLES available for advance reservation. Table purchase includes seating for up to 8 people, bottled water, and reservation card with your name. Great for a picnic spot, place to relax and enjoy the day! A portion of the event proceeds will be used to benefit SF Boys and Girls Club.
 
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30th from 11am-4pm:  SHARKTOBERFEST @ THE PRESIDIO

SATURDAY OCTOBER 21st from 11am-3pm: SHERMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PUMPKIN FEST
Sherman Elementary School is a nearby public K-5 school on Union Street at Franklin.  The Pumpkin Festival is Sherman's  fall family carnival and fundraiser.  It is free and open to the public; donations are appreciated.  Past years have featured carnival games, a bouncy slide, a haunted house, pumpkin carving, and a fantastic barbecue.  Halloween costumes encouraged!

SATURDAY OCTOBER 28th from approx. 3-5pm (exact time and place TBD): POLK STREET MERCHANTS / RHN TRICK-OR-TREATING HALLOWEEN EVENT
Please reserve the afternoon of Saturday October 28 and start getting your costumes ready for a fun pre-Halloween event on Polk Street!   The second annual event is still in the planning stages, but there will definitely be trick-or-treating at many local businesses along Polk Street, pumpkin decorating at a nearby location, and other fun surprises. We will provide more details as the event is finalized.
