We’re thrilled to share two new reports with you that explore critical perspectives on the teaching profession: The second CenterView in our series on teacher leadership from the Center's Teacher Practice Networks as well as the second annual report on the state of California State Standards implementation from the Center's California Initiatives.
This CenterView looks at how teacher leaders are enacting teacher leader-led professional learning and what school administrators can do to support and sustain this impactful approach to improving teaching and learning. Learn about:
  • Teacher leader-led professional learning designed to integrate face-to-face learning, virtual learning and coaching
  • Vignettes of teacher-led professional learning in action
  • Site-based conditions that enable teacher leaders to facilitate effective professional learning

The goal of this report is to share educators’ insights into California State Standards implementation. We spoke with teachers, instructional coaches, principals and district leaders to learn about shifts in instruction. Our findings indicate that district leaders believe teachers made significant progress implementing the new standards from 2015 to 2016. Still, the majority are still transitioning and developing an understanding of the instructional strategies needed to teach to them.

In the Instructional Shifts domain, we hear from district leaders about teachers’ mastery of the new standards and from teachers about their specific shifts in classroom practice.
