For the first time in Nature Visions' history, participants can
arrange for expert photographers to review their work.
Photographers can sign up with any of NVPE's presenters who
have agreed to participate in this portfolio review. Click here

EXPERT SPEAKERS
Here's a look at four of the experts teaching at Nature Visions. More will be

STEVE GETTLE: Internationally known Steve
Gettle will present "Frozen Moments: High
Speed Nature Photography" on Saturday at
1 p.m. and "The Art of Visual Language" on
Sunday, at 3 p.m. For more than 30 years, Gettle
has captured nature’s beauty and communicated
his love for the world's wild places. He has
exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world, including the Museum of Natural History in London; his work has also has been featured in many books, magazines, calendars, and other publications, including The National Geographic Society; and he has been honored to receive many awards, including the BBC’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year. MARIE JOABAR: Capital Photography Center founder Marie Joabar is offering three ever-popular presentations this year: "Getting Off Auto: Taking Control" on Saturday at 9 a.m., "The 10 Best Reasons to Use Lightroom," on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., and "How Do You Shoot That?" on Sunday at 2 p.m. With more than 13 years experience as the Corporate Trainer and Education Programs Manager for a leading camera retailer, Joabar founded the Capital Photography Center in 2012. As an instructor, she takes complicated concepts and technology, and breaks them down into easy-to-understand nuggets. Joabar teaches photography classes for Shenandoah County and writes the "Shared Exposures" photography column for “The Mountain Courier.” Her photos have been published in magazines and newspapers. MARK BUCKLER: Renowned photographic
instructor and wildlife field biologist Mark Buckler
is lecturing on "Mastering the Art of Wildlife
Photography" on Sunday at 9 a.m., and
"Amazing Photo Destinations: The
Outer Banks of North Carolina" on Sunday at
1:30 p.m. Buckler's deep understanding of nature and animal behavior enhances his ability to capture unique and interesting nature images and also put his workshop clients into the right spots to capture the most compelling images. He has taught workshops and given presentations nationwide; he has received numerous awards; and his photos have been featured in many exhibitions, galleries, and publications. The Cape Cod native has been actively documenting nature for over 30 years. In 2005, Buckler moved to the Outer Banks of NC, where he continues to reside and pursue his passion for nature, wildlife, and landscape photography. DENISE SILVA: Road Runner Photography Tours
co-founder Denise Silva is teaching "Long
Exposure Photography" on Saturday, at 2 p.m.
Silva finds every aspect of photography rewarding.
From in-camera composition to post-processing,
photography is meditative, creative, and
challenging. Her passion is to capture images, from landscapes to urban decay, and to share her experiences and knowledge with fellow photographers. To this end, she and Don Rosenberger started Road Runner Photography Tours. Silva was the featured photographer in the July/August 2015 "Photoshop User Magazine."
