Forest Rugby Club News

  • Our U15’s headed off to FIJI this morning for their end of season rugby tour. A massive fund-raising effort ensured all players were able to go for minimum cost. A tour group of 22 players and 15 fathers / coaches are making the trip to play some games against local schools and enjoy a great time together. Strangely enough the fathers seemed more excited than the boys!

  • Our Senior Touch Football Comp will be commencing on Thursday 5th October. Available to all senior players and their friends. Also our Opens players who we hope will be entering a team. We already have a number of teams expressing interest. Form a team or just turn up and join. Contact Dicko on 0418 787 158 for further information

  • 1st Grade Player Donovan Bassett is a finalist in the Barraclough Medal to be presented at the NSW Suburban Rugby Award Night being held at The Establishment in the city on Friday Night. A contingent of supporters will accompany Donovan to hopefully bring home the medal!

Coach of the Year Award

Congratulations to Scott Saunders who won the NSW Rugby Community Coach of the Year Award at the NSW Rugby awards night.

Award Criteria:

To be a great rugby coach, you don’t need to have been a great player; love and knowledge of the game are the main ingredients along with a desire to share your passion with players. Helping players develop to achieve their maximum potential and moulding them into a team while teaching them the core values of the game are the key deliverables NSW Rugby Union recognise in top coaches.

This award is open to coaches across all competitions within the state of NSW.

Scott played from U6’s at Killarney Heights Rugby through to Open Age and Senior Rugby with Schoolboys, Warringah Rugby, Roseville Seniors in the later years, NSW Suburban and is still a current team member of the "Gentleman of Sydney Golden Oldies" .

He then gave up playing and hung up the boots to take on a coaching role with Roseville Rugby Seniors before transferring to Forest Rugby to coach his sons team and in 2017 became the Director of Coaching and Development for Forest

We will all be back on deck in late January ready to do it all again next Season
