Artist's Notes
It is hard to believe that it has been over three months since I have written a newsletter. Adjusting to a new home and enjoying a grandson has taken up some of my time, but I have not put my art aside. If anything, I have been excited about creating. I find that I been sent on an exciting adventure in a new area, I might as well take a creative one as well.
I started with taking a month of rest from creating art, but it did not include organizing my studio. As I organized I went through my art supplies and placed them in their new homes. I piled unfinished art and unhappy art (art that didn't turn out the way I like), and contemplated their existence as to what should become of them. I also began to explore what I truly enjoy creating in my art. One of the things that came to the foreground is that I thoroughly enjoy creating gardens.
So I have spend the past few months on a crazy fun creative adventure! It started with creating little studies of gardens, no bigger than 1x2 or 2x3 inspired by all the beautiful gardens in my neighborhood. Then encouraged by my sewing friends in North Carolina "The Thread Whispers" I created a quilt to entered into a Van Gogh quilt challenge, in which I was accepted to travel to different venues in the United State throughout the year, not bad for not being much of a quilter! This challenge of creating something different and new stir up creative juices!! I began to revisited the unfinished and the not so happy art, and decided to give it a second chance! I am proud to say that most of them have been reborn to my liking. I have also created new ones like the "Gathering of Pumpkins" which have gather to welcome the fall!
I will have these art pieces on my new reworked website soon!
www.sewuniqueart.com and they will be at the Edwardsville Art Fair this weekend if you are in the area! Festival hours are below in
Events or on my website

Artist's Tip
When you rest from creating art with your hands, remember never to stop creating art with your heart! It will lead you to becoming a better artist once you start physically creating again.
