Just Enough

 
Proverbs 30:8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
 
I wonder what it would be like to have it all, yet know it’s not enough?  In 1 Kings Ch. 3, King Solomon has a dream where an encounter with God leads to the promises of great riches – “Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for-both riches and honour-so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings.”  Solomon was the richest, wisest man to have ever lived.  He could have anything he ever wanted (and probably did have) yet he understood that contentment was a key to his life.  There is a deception in Christianity today, which states that you can have anything you want because of the “Glorious riches” in Christ Jesus; a verse, which has been taken out of context by some.  In his God-given wisdom, Solomon is astute enough to know that blaming God for having too little or having a desire for too much could inevitably lead him away from God.  In other words, instead of trusting God for his “Daily bread”, he would rely on material things instead. 
 
As you sit and ponder your life today, are you thinking that God doesn’t love you enough to provide for your every need?  Or on the other hand, are you thinking that if you won the lottery that all your problems would be solved?  Both of these views are deception in themselves.  Although we need things every day, it’s God’s desire to keep you close to His heart, not close to His wallet.  So ask yourselves, am I living in contentment today?  Do I have “JUST ENOUGH”?

After an amazing start to the year, our volunteer list is down to three. The cafe is a vital ministry within Gateway and we don't want to lose it. Please can you commit to one morning or one afternoon a week for the next three months.
