Papercourt Sailability wins Prestigious Award
Papercourt Sailability have been awarded the Guildford Borough, Mayor’s Award for Access to Sport. This recognises the great work by John Beynon and numerous other members who run our Sailability section providing inclusive sailing for everyone no matter what their disability. Following an external nomination and a visit by the Borough’s Deputy Mayor we were awarded this great prize.
Comms from the Commodore
Huge congratulations to our sailability team for the above award.
Further Improvements
Engines - We have agreed to replace all our Yamaha engines with Tohatsu power unites which are better suited to our lake, and hte duty they are required to preform. They are also slightly lighter, easier to start and have a little more power - What's not to like! The first units will be arriving very shortly with completion of the change-over by the end of the year. We are also taking the opportunity to upgrade the Committee Boat engine.
Slipways We have now concreted the area of mud between the concrete launch areas near to the green container providing better launch facilites in the area.

Trophies - The time has come to break out the Silver Polish
Please now return all trophies to the tea bar or the main bar, properly polished ready for engraving. Unpolished trophies cannot be engraved and presented to the new (or repeat) recipients, so play fair and do your bit.
Trophy Presentation - Date for your Diary
Trophy winners get their moment of glory when their trophies are presented at the Annual Dinner Dance on November 18th - put the date in your diaries now, tickets on sale soon.

The Autumn Work Party - Sunday 5th November - 9.30 am
Every year there are two work parties at Papercourt, when we hope that all members will attend. Papercourt is a member's club and almost everything that happens at the club is done by the members for the members.
|
|
|
Sunday 5th November is when we all get together to tidy the club up after the busy summer season and make sure everything is in good order for the winter weather to come. The reward is that everyone who attends in the morning gets a yummy free hot lunch. Please put the date in your diary and remember it is your club so needs your help.
If you have noticed anything around the club which needs the attention of the Work Party, please email Alan on house@papercourt-sc.org.uk and he can add it to the list.

The Class Championships - Girl Power
At this new event for the Club eight classes were represented with competitors in seven of those completing the necessary 2 out of 3 races to qualify. It was a breezy day with a few capsizes, but the girls carried the day in four of the classes, which is a tremendous result given that in the club overall ladies are generally under-represented on the water. Thanks to Frank Brown for organising the racing so efficiently, in what turned out to be a popular and exciting days racing.

Uni Wheels
We have had a couple of road wheels go missing from a Surrey University double stack trailer which was parked behind the boathouse, near the weed pit. Maybe they were borrowed and someone has forgotten to return them? Any information please to Joe Simmons at ussu.sailing@surrey.ac.uk
