Greetings from YWAM Ålesund!

It’s the beginning of a new season and we are happy to share our excitement with you about what’s currently happening here at our base. Not only are we gonna introduce some new schools this year, we are also happy to announce that we are moving to a new building in town! This will open up tons of new opportunities.

As many of you know, YWAM Ålesund has had an in-house music studio in the basement. In light of the DTS moving out, AND the dreams that have been brewing over the years - the studio has big plans of taking over parts of the main level. The result would be a 100+ square meter facility equipped with high-end gear. In anticipation of this, the studio will be officially launching this Fall. Stay tuned!

Creative DTS 2017/18

This years Creative DTS has finally begun! We are so honoured to finally meet the 18 students who have traveled from all over the world to begin their journey with God in Ålesund this year. The Creative DTS is a 9 month course with creative weeks spread throughout the normal 6 month DTS curriculum, with a 2 month outreach during March and April. We are so excited to for this upcoming school year, and to witness students develop their character on a personal and spiritual level while also gaining a stronger foundation as artists. Students will also be a part of music, barista, fine art, photography, and dance tracks, where they will learn to use their creative gifts as disciples of Jesus Christ, connect with God, and prophetically impact culture.

ONE – School for Artists

ONE is a nine month, three part school that was birthed out of and is held together by relationship and similar vision between YWAM Barcelona, YWAM Ålesund and YWAM Baltimore. The focus of each location is developed with the specific strength and gifting of each base in mind.

Three locations but ONE heartbeat.

This school is designed for artists who want to develop their skills and talents in order to become effective influencers of culture and the arts. All 3 phases will include aspects of all 3 disciplines: Inspiration, Creation and Integration. Each phase will have it’s own specialized area where it will be a bit more focused.

School of Worship

Another school we are pioneering is the EXTRAVAGANT School of Worship that starts the 26th of January 2018! We are excited to run the school in a place that was used as a prayer house in the past and to revive this place with new praise and worship!

This training program is for people that are passionate about God’s presence and want to release a new sound as well as find the songs that need to be sung by this generation.
We want to invite people to pour themselves out in extravagant worship and pave the way for others to step into freedom and transformation.

Featuring Artist: SaintSanti

In this newsletter we want to introduce Santiago, a musician and missionary here in YWAM Ålesund and the latest project he was working on.

“SaintSanti is a project I started with the release of my first EP “Three Nights of a Saint”. I worked on these three songs in the studio of YWAM Ålesund and have also released two music videos: “In your Presence” and “Running To You”. Both of these videos were produced here in Ålesund with the help of fellow YWAMer Rachel Stenger, a great friend and artist who joined me in producing these videos. The latest work we did was the music video “Running to You”. This was filmed and directed by Iver Jensen, a brilliant Norwegian film director and produced by YWAM Ålesund.

'Running To You' is a song that takes you into this conversation I had with God in a really hard season of my life where I couldn’t hear or understand him and it leads you to the revelation that he has been there the whole time and that he is enough. The music video is mostly a one shoot that takes you into a journey into my life when I was trying different things to find all the answers of who I am or who God is and to find out that nothing satisfies like God does. This is the most exciting, fun and profound project I have done so far in my career. I hope you enjoy it.”

Youth with a Mission Ålesund is a small, vibrant center situated on the west coast of Norway. Our vision is to have God at the center of all we do, such as creating spirt filled art, being a training center that helps young people to grow and understand their identity as well as showing young people how art impacts culture. At the same time we want to minister to our community through several ministries.
