First Communion Class. If you believe that your child is ready to take their first communion (no particular age requirement), please join in for a brief class from 11:45-12:15 p.m. after worship on October 22. Parents and children are invited to learn more about the process and what it means to take communion in the Lutheran faith.
Luther and the Reformation. This October marks the 500-year anniversary of the Reformation. Pastor Nick is leading an adult class entitled "Luther and the Reformation" each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Women in Stitches room. All are welcome!
Sunday School News. It’s been a great fall for our Sunday School! In grades Pre-K through 5 the children are using the Spark curriculum which follows the lessons used in worship each week from the common lectionary. The junior and senior high students are studying the Old Testament.

For the adults each Sunday a current topic is explored from a biblical perspective using the Wired Word. Feel free to join in for any class (adult Sunday School meets in the sanctuary at 9:15 a.m.). If you would like to receive an email with the next week’s lesson please email Kenn Mingus to be added to the distribution list.

The younger children are excited to “feed the elephant” each week with coins and bills. This offering will be donated to a classroom destroyed by the flooding of Hurricane Harvey at Lutheran South Academy in Houston.
Back parking lot closed this Sunday. We are expecting the final concrete pour for the rework of the driveway to the back parking to occur this week. Therefore, the back parking lot will be closed this Sunday, October 15. Please be careful around the construction site and obey all signs. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
Cooking oil push. It's time for our annual cooking oil push in preparation for the holidays. During the month of October we will be collecting 48 oz. bottles of cooking oil for the GRACE Food Pantry. Each year during Thanksgiving and Christmas GRACE provides over 500 food packages which all include cooking oil. Our goal this October is 175 bottles, and we pray that you can find it in your heart to pick up a few bottles while shopping and give a little extra.
Advent Devotions. If you are interested in writing an Advent Devotion this year, please contact Pastor Nick.

What a wonderful day last Sunday! We welcomed a new member to God's family with the baptism of Dove Williamson—congratulations, Sasha and Case! Worship was followed by our annual picnic which was a great time! Thanks to the organizers, cooks, game hosts, set-up and clean-up crews, and all who helped.
