The S.S. Atlantic Heritage Park Society has been in existence since 2001. It began with the Terence Bay Restoration and Development Association in 1981 to clear and re-claim the mass grave site. We now have a park area with boardwalk and gazebo overlooking beautiful Terence Bay as well as an interpretive centre with a small craft shop that is staffed and open to the public from May 1 to October 31.
 
In every initiative there are small and large tasks to be done. Perhaps you are interested in volunteering some time and expertise to the heritage park? It would be greatly appreciated. We are beginning to plan next year’s projects and are open to ideas and looking for some good ol’ enthusiasm.

With the recent donations of artifacts that we've received at the Heritage Park, we need to do some rearranging at the Centre. It's time to take our display area to the next level, to better tell the story of the SS Atlantic and its effect on Lower Prospect, Upper Prospect and Terence Bay.

 
We're looking for stories about the folks who participated in the rescue or took care of survivors—or just things that you've heard about the goings on during the spring and summer of 1873 after the Atlantic  disaster came into the lives of the local people.
