Happy Fall

We have such a wonderful few months up ahead. I am so excited to share them with you. If you did not already know, November is our Customer Appreciation Month. Every year we try to bring you something special.

This year is no different and our largest gift to you this year is an 8-session free online class, presented live on Herbal Medicine for the New Enthusiast with both of TDH's practitioners, Jillian Carnrick and Betsy Miller. This class breaks down 8 different kinds of herbal preparations and looks closely at one herb that is used for each. Sign up for Learn It Live and register for the class now to receive reminders on when the classes are. As usual, our live classes will be recorded so you can watch them later.

If you want to get all of the other bonuses for the month sent to your e-mail join our top customers email list. This list is only active during November.

October Online Classes

On October 11th we will be offering one of our Advanced Beginner classes: Herbs for Digestive Support. Join us to break down our digestive system, common digestive upsets, and herbs that can be used to support healthy digestive function. We will focus on how each herb can be used and why you may want to choose one over another for your digestive upsets. This class is a great taste of our Intermediate classes for our Online Herbal Study Program so you can help determine if you would like to delve deeper into our program.

October Product Highlight

Back before The Dancing Herbalist even existed there was our First Aid Salve. While learning about topical herbal products in graduate school, Jillian made our First Aid Salve as a holiday gift for friends and family for the first time. It was an immediate success for cuts, scrapes, and dry feet especially.

As our First Aid Salve was manufactured more and our customers explored its uses this product reached well beyond it's first intentions for cuts. Consider this product for bruises with it's excellent healing from comfrey. For rug burns and large scrapes with the skin healing powers of calendula and comfrey. Pain relief from muscle soreness and minor injuries due to the eucalyptus. And when in doubt, put some on there. This drawing salve is sure to please as you use it for stings and bites as well.

Herbal Skin Care

ITS NOT JUST THE FACE

The past few weeks I decided to open up in my blog about the terrors I have had with dealing with my skin. I have finally come out on the other side and no longer have constant rashes down my arms. These rashes are becoming more and more common in the United States and so much of it is our lifestyles. I spent a good 5+ years changing my diet, stress reduction practices, movement practices, and more to repair all of the damage both internally and externally to my body from my life of a SAD, Standard American Diet, and lifestyle.

During that time I also found many helpful herbs that have become my allies in supporting myself and others with skin care. For the average person, their skin healing needs do not go beyond cuts, scrapes, and bug bites which our First Aid Salve filled with calendula, comfrey, plantain, and euclayptus is perfect. For others that have more the experience I had, a sensitivity to everything and painful inflamed/calloused skin where it shouldn't be, getting simple products, avoiding all preservatives and essential oils on the skin is key. Poultices and washes with herbs can be amazingly helpful with herbs like plantain, chamomile, and calendula. Or even simple infused oils using high quality olive oil.

On my bad days I would notice that any herbs would cause problems. My body was so out of wack that the things that would otherwise have been healing were making things worse. On those days I needed to protect my skin, not encourage it to be active and healing. A simple olive oil was what I needed. Coconut oil would make it worse! That is how bad it would be. Even with all of the herbs it was changing my food, exercise, and stress patterns that I needed to finally make a change.

It is very hard to make these kinds of long term changes and it is not a quick fix. When there becomes a time that you are ready to make that shift and begin practicing wellness techniques (it is always a practice) an excellent place to begin is with Jillian's book A Beginner's Guide to Wellness and continue with a consultation with one of the TDH's practitioners
Jillian Carnrick began her herbal studies with the East West School of Planetary Herbology under Michael and Leslie Tierra and continued to study at the Maryland University of Integrative Health, obtaining a Master’s of Science degree in Herbal Medicine in 2012.

During this time Jillian also became a Certified Personal Trainer and Exercise is Medicine Professional through the American College of Sports Medicine. She continues to be active in a variety of dance and exercise communities.

Having found a passion for herbal preparations, Jillian opened The Dancing Herbalist, LLC and started to produce topical herbal products in 2012. Jillian continues now to bring her products, designed to support an active lifestyle, as well as her passion for wellness centered health care to individuals through her book: A Beginner's Guide to Wellness, and classes. Please contact us if you are looking for a private consultation with a practitioner from The Dancing Herbalist.
