If it weren't for their teachers, they wouldn't be who they are today.

"Everyone who remembers his own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system."
Sidney Hook, 1902-1989.
To be grateful - Hakarot Hatov in Hebrew - is a precious obligation. For this World Teachers' Day, four of our alumni say "thank you!" to the ORT teachers who have put them on the path to success and fulfilment. Feel the love - and share it!
After our own parents, teachers are the biggest influence on our lives. Without teachers who are trained, motivated and equipped for class our children won’t be trained, motivated or equipped for adulthood.

World ORT recognises that our mission of Educating for Life depends, more than anything, on dedicated, professional teachers. Which is why we provide our teachers with seminars, awards and facilities to keep them at the top of their game.

But for World Teachers’ Day we want our teachers to know not only that they are appreciated by us but also loved by those for whom they work so hard – the students. So we asked four alumni in Latin America, Bulgaria, Russia and Ukraine which of their ORT teachers had made the biggest impact on them, filmed them and showed the results to the teachers in question – and filmed their responses.

This year, World Teachers’ Day coincides with the first day of Succot, also known as zman simchateinu, the time of our rejoicing. The heartfelt expressions of gratitude and devotion in our video may bring a tear to your eye but it should also bring a smile to your lips. For while the flimsy branches on the roof of our succah remind us of our vulnerability, this video testifies to the solid educational foundation and bonds of affection and support which bolster our students’ ability to make their way in an uncertain world with confidence.

Watch it now and join us in thanking our teachers for the inspiring way they are shaping the future.
