International Media Support, has launched a global standard for quality journalism drawing upon policies and strategies pioneered by the Ethical Journalism Network. The new strategy responds to increasing concerns over so-called fake news and the rise of technology-driven propaganda which have blurred the lines between reliable journalism and misinformation. 

Media Indaba Africa is hosted by the continent’s largest data journalism and civic technology federation, Code for Africa, in partnership with Hacks/Hackers Africa. The conference will take place from November 23rd to the 25th 2017. It will bring together hacktivists and data journalists from leading media and tech brands around the world for three days of knowledge sharing and project creation.

The GIJC17 program with over 100 workshops, panel discussions and special events will be taking place in Africa for the first time in ten years. From 16th to 19th November 2017, Johannesburg will be the center of investigative journalism talks, with more then a 100 journalist representatives from around the world. The 12th annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) at the United Nations Office in Geneva will take place from 18-21 of December 2017. This year's title is Shape Your Digital Future. As part of the forum, GFMD will be participating in a media development stakeholders discussion panel.
