FALL HAS ARRIVED!
That's right fall has officially rolled around and there is so much to celebrate in October (besides Halloween).  The whole month of October is Adopt-a-Dog month! If you were considering adding another furry family member now is the time!
October 1st is National Black Dog Day!  Finally some love for our often over-looked friends. Black dogs are beautiful but sadly are the hardest to get adopted.  If you have a black pup- let them know they are extra appreciated (even if you missed the 1st, any day will do)!
National Walk Your Dog Week is the first week in October!  As the weather is slowly but surely cooling off now is a great time to get your pup walking more often and for longer.  If you're stuck at work CCLA has your back! Email us to get your dog set-up for some walks this week.
October 29th is National Cat Day!  Hooray for all our kitty friends- extra catnip for everyone!  We love our cat clients just as much as our dogs.  We hope you have a purrfect day!
October 28th is National Pit bull Awareness Day!  Pit Bulls can sometimes have an unfortunate reputation.  At CCLA we understand that Pit Bulls are some of the sweetest, friendliest dogs out there (trust us, we walk a lot of them).
Dog VS Wind
Most pets have an issue with the wind.  We have seen cats and dogs freak out when the Santa Ana's start blowing.  And guess what, they are blowing!  The new season brings cooler temperatures and stronger winds.  There is no solid research into why dogs hate wind but we can make a couple educated guesses.  For some dogs it can be a signal that a storm is coming as wind is often accompanied by thunder and lightning.  Another idea is that all the scents get picked up by the wind and it can excite dogs.  Either way, now it good time to check that all gates, doors and screens are secure so there is no chance of escape for your pet.
Hello Handsomes!

Whatsup goodlookin?!  We are thrilled to welcome these four boys to the CCLA crew.  On the top left we have puppy Finn.  He enjoys short walks and lots of playtime.  In the top right corner we have Oscar who loves to cuddle and get his treats.  Moose in the left bottom corner loves his walks and showing off his tricks for treats!  Last but certainly not least we have puppy Milo in the bottom right.  He enjoys saying hello to the neighborhood on his walks and playing with toys.  Follow us on Facebook to keep up with all the newbies!
Halloween Safety Tips For Your Pets
Halloween can be a scary time for your pets... and not in the fun way. Keep your pet safe this year by keeping the candy hidden and in high places.  When you're waiting for tricker-treaters make sure the bowl full of treats is in a safe and secure spot.  Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, is toxic to cats and dogs and so are some sweeteners.
If you are expecting lots of tricker-treaters be sure your pets don't run outside when giving out candy.  If you have runners, make sure they are crated or secured in a safe space. Stay safe and have a happy Halloween!
Are You Annoying Your Dog?!
There are certain things humans do that pets can't stand.  We all want the best for our pets but sometimes what we think it best may actually be quite annoying to them.  Check out our blog to find out the top three things people do that annoy their pups.
Dressing Up Your Pet For Halloween?
If you've dressed up your pet for Halloween before then you probably understand the struggle of finding the right fit.  Putting your dog in an ill-fitting costume can be a safety hazard.  Read our blog on proper costume fitting to keep your pet safe and comfortable this Halloween!
