Take a virtual tour of GMCT cemeteries

GMCT has launched a virtual tour allowing you to step inside our largest and most iconic cemetery, Fawkner Memorial Park – along with its nearest neighbour, Northern Memorial Park – at any time and from any location.

History and heritage working group concludes

GMCT manages 19 cemeteries and many are over 100 years old. For the past two years, GMCT’s history and heritage working group has focused on ensuring the lasting recognition and protection of these cemeteries’ rich historical treasures.

GMCT cemeteries offer a trove of relics and architectural features of the past, such as the Williamstown Fountain and the historic mortuary carriage at Fawkner Memorial Park.

Meet GMCT’s new trust members
In September GMCT welcomed three new trust members, appointed by the Minister for Health under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 (Vic).

Beverley Excell, Kevin Quigley and James (Jim) Turcato began their terms on 1 September 2017. Their appointments are for three years.

Spring greenery at Campbellfield Creek

GMCT has been hard at work planting new trees, shrubs and grasses at Fawkner Memorial Park to rehabilitate Campbellfield Creek in partnership with Melbourne Water.

Join The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust and wider community for All Souls' Day services to be held from late October 2017.

GMCT will be hosting All Souls’ mass services several of our cemeteries, in a range of languages including English, Italian, Maltese and Polish. All services are free to attend and a printable calendar of dates and times will soon be available on our website www.gmct.com.au (Media, News and Events page).
