Friendship Center 2018 Goals
December 3rd: Holiday Gift Market

Dear Friends,

We have set several ambitious goals for 2018 –
1. We would like to provide another day of programming. Currently The Friendship Center is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For 2018 our goal is to also open on Wednesdays.
2. Expand our field trip program to provide more educational and cultural opportunities.
When The Friendship Center isn’t open our participants are often not given anything to eat, and if they are it is a small meal, not the abundant, nutritious, hot, homemade meals they get here. When we are not open they often have nothing to do and nowhere to go. They don’t have access to transportation, and sometimes our friends are not allowed to leave their homes. Also, another day program in the city of Atlanta for people living with mental illness recently closed its doors, leaving our friends with no support network or structured activities on Wednesdays.
With your financial support we can fill that gap in services and meet the needs of this community. We can serve more hot, nutritious meals. We can offer the impactful wellness and recovery programming our friends and participants rely upon.
I am writing to ask for your prayers for these goals and for your financial support to make these goals a reality. Over 75% of The Friendship Center budget comes from individuals like you. Without your support, this safe haven would simply not exist.  For example, $47 will provide lunch for a day, $100 covers almost a week of transportation costs, $680 supports the life-saving work of our staff certified nurse’s assistant, and $1500 employs a gardener for a year.
You can give securely on our website by clicking here or by mailing your check to the address below. You can also sign up for The Friendship Center newsletter or give on our website.
Finally, I would like to invite you to join us in person as we work to promote the mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of adults marginalized by mental health challenges and by poverty. We would love to have you join us for a field trip; in 2017 we went bowling, toured the High Museum, took a hiking trip, visited the Chattahoochee Nature center, and more. You are also invited to come tour the program on a Tuesday or Thursday morning. When you see the work of The Friendship Center in person, you won’t soon forget it. Thank you so much for your support.

Peace & Light,
The Reverend Alexis Chase
Vicar, Holy Comforter Episcopal Church & Executive Director - The Friendship Center of Atlanta
