Stocking the pantry
 
Student group's food drive targets hunger on AU campus
 
Food insecurity—the lack of access to affordable, nutritious food—is surprisingly common at colleges and universities across the country, and Auburn University is no exception.
To help address the issue at Auburn, the College of Agriculture’s Agriculture Student Council, better known as Ag Council, is collecting nonperishable food items for the Campus Food Pantry, a service available to students struggling financially.

Probing the GMO debate 
 

The College of Agriculture is celebrating World Food Day Oct. 16 with a free screening of “Food Evolution,” a documentary that takes an in-depth look at the polarizing debate over genetically modified organisms. The Auburn campus and community are invited to the screening, set for 5:30 p.m. in the Foy Hall Auditorium.

Testing for fertility
 

In research that could save cattle producers more than $20 million a year, Animal Science professor Paul Dyce is working to develop a relatively noninvasive test that can be used early in the production process to distinguish a fertile heifer from an infertile heifer.

Animal sciences department to host Horse U - Nov.4
 
A one-day educational program for children and teens who own or have a passion for horses is set for Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., on the Auburn University campus. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at the Stanley P. Wilson Beef Teaching Unit, 500 Shug Jordan Parkway.
