Good News Club Kickoff Curriculum

This fall most clubs are starting with a six-week series that presents God's plan of redemption through Jesus Christ in simple terms. God's love and forgiveness in Christ are woven into lessons along with the Bible's authority and truthfulness as God's word, the Trinity, attributes of God, sin, repentance and restoration. Memory verses include Isaiah 40:8, Genesis 1:1 and Ephesians 2: 8-9.
We have seen many children come to Christ and begin to understand the thread of redemption in Scripture through the teachings in this series.

Katrina Lewis of Mason, Ohio
Good New Club worker and team leader

This is my twelfth or thirteenth year doing Good News Clubs. It started when I attended a women's Bible study at my church and one day one of the elderly women gave an announcement and explained what Good News Club was and how there was a need for helpers. It sounded like a great opportunity to share the gospel in the public school environment.

It so happened that another lady, Meredith Landers, was getting ready to start a club at a local school so I volunteered to help. The first year I only brought snacks to club. I couldn't even stay because my kids were at different schools and I had to be home to get them off the bus. The following year a few of us were able to begin a club at my daughter's school. When she "graduated" from that school a couple of us moved up to the next school to begin a club there.

One of the biggest blessings of this ministry is the fact that most of the kids come all year because they truly enjoy club and that warms my heart, and the percentage of kids that learn their memory verses every week and still know them six weeks later gives me great encouragement that our labor is not in vain. God's Word changes lives and I believe that the Scriptures they learn now will stay with them for a lifetime. I have also been blessed by the training I have received in how to minister to children and the team that volunteers with me makes the ministry to kids delightful. Each person has gifts and it is fun to see God use them to advance is kingdom.

Encouragement from the kids

Every so often a child comes up to a club volunteer with a smile, a note and a big "thank you." It's encouraging to know we are being used by God and making a difference through evangelism and discipleship.
