IMPROVE YOUR
PHOTOGRAPHY
It's not too late -- yet -- to take advantage
of Nature Visions' unprecedented opportunity
of a Portfolio Review by one of the expo's
expert photography speakers. Space is still
available for 20-minute critiques by Tim Grey,
Denise Silva, Corey Hilz, Mark Buckler, Nikhil Bahl, Eileen Rafferty, Steve Gettle, Joe Brady, Roy Sewall, or Brian Zwit. Some other photo groups charge more than NVPE's reasonable $60 fee. Click HERE to register. To register for other sessions, including the all-day Friday work-
shop, click HERE. (The best value is the three-day pass, which includes the all-day workshop and all sessions held in Merchant Hall.)

EXPERT SPEAKERS
Here's a glance at some of the experts teaching at Nature Visions. Others are
featured in future and past NVPE newsletters.
NIKHIL BAHL:
Full-time professional photographer, author,
educator, and environmentalist Nikhil Bahl
has two classes Saturday: "The Wild Side
of Nature Photography," 9-10:30 a.m., and
"Photographic Impact," 2-3 p.m. Bahl, who
lives in the DC area, adopts novel approaches
and seeks meaningful interpretations to create photos that transcend the commonplace, reflect deeper insights, and convey an enchantment of the subject’s beauty. As a volunteer with the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, his goal is to portray environmental stories with an artistic appeal so his photos educate and motivate about the imperative of conservation. Bahl leads photography tours and instructional workshops worldwide, he's a popular speaker, and he writes about photography's creative and technical aspects. He authored the acclaimed eBook, "Creative Interpretations." For more info, click HERE.
JOE BRADY:
Photographer, educator, author, photo
workshop leader, and studio owner Joe
Brady -- who has been teaching photography
and photo-editing for more than two decades --
is teaching three classes: "Top Ten Tips and
Techniques for Better Landscape and
Nature Photography"(Sat., 9-10 a.m.), "Why
Don't My Prints Match What I See On My Monitor?" (Sat., 3-4 p.m.), and "Adding Impact to Landscape & Travel Photography," (Sun., 10:30 a.m.-noon). One of Brady's greatest joys is to see photographers in his classes have that “Ah-Hah!” moment when they capture an image they've been seeking for some time. He's a member of Sony’s Artisans of Imaging program, and he writes for Lynda . com, X-Rite Coloratti, and Kelby Media Lightroom Magazine. A recipient of the Fuji Masterpiece Award for his landscape photography, Joe is a sought-after speaker and teaches photography workshops around the world, specializing in scenic and panoramic landscapes and environmental portrait photography. For more info, click HERE.
EILEEN RAFFERTY:
Creative consultant, photo magazine founder, freelance
photographer, workshop leader, and professional
darkroom printer Eileen Rafferty is offering three
courses: "Critiquing Photographs: Learning the
Language of a Photograph," (Sat., 11 a.m.-noon),
"Ritual & Curiosity: Keys to Creativity," (Sun.,
10:30 -11:30 a.m.), and "History Repeats Itself:
Tracing Contemporarily Trends in Photography
with the Historical Beginnings" (Sun., 12:30-
1:30 p.m.). Rafferty believes in making meaningful
work and discovering something new every day. Drawing on her diverse and eclectic photographic experience, she teaches workshops and lectures around the country on topics, such as Creativity and Photographic History. She works as a freelance video editor and has a creative consulting business to inspire and motivate clients to pursue and nurture a creative life. For more info, click HERE.
ROY SEWALL:
Author, full-time photographer, and DC-area
resident Roy Sewall, whose interest in
photography evolved from extensive travel on
six continents, is teaching "Taking Your
Photography to the Next Level" on Sat.,
from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sewall wrote "Our Potomac, from Great Falls through Washington, D.C.," which was inspired by his affection for hiking and bicycling along the Potomac River and the adjacent Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, and "Great Falls and Mather Gorge." The books established him as one of the leading photographers of the river and the canal. After completing the books, Sewall turned to the creation of large fine art prints. He has developed diverse bodies of work for exhibitions that include unusual foreign and domestic landscapes, old European architecture, historical re-enactment, and abstracts.
