The Thai Forest Tradition is characterized by an uncompromising commitment to mental self-development. From this crucible has emerged innumerable wise monastics - and we're bringing them right to your doorstep.
"Whatever you think you are, that's not what you are."

DAY-LONG RETREATS
Exploring Meditation with Bhante Suddhaso

Buddhist meditation can be broadly divided into two major categories: Samatha meditation and Vipassanā meditation. During these two day-long retreats, we will be practicing several different meditation  techniques and learning how they fit into the broader Buddhist path to Awakening.

WORKSHOP
Sutta Study

BHANTE SUDDHASO
Every Thursday, 7pm (unless otherwise noted)

One of the most well-known and well-loved collections of the Buddha's teachings is the Dhammapada - a compilation of brief poems spoken by the Buddha. These short statements are packed with profound insight that is often not readily apparent: so on this Sutta study day, Bhante Suddhāso will take us through an examination of the deeper meaning behind each verse of the Dhammapada.

WORKSHOP
Pali Class

BHANTE SUDDHASO
Oct 1st, 7pm

Translations are never completely accurate - so the only way to fully understand the Buddha's words is to read them in their original language. With this in mind, Bhante Suddhāso will teach a series of classes covering basic Pāli grammar, using the textbook "Pāli Primer." No prior experience with Pāli, Sanskrit, or philology is necessary.

10-DAY RETREAT
Ocean of Wisdom: Sutta Study & Meditation Retreat

BHANTE SUDDHASO
Nov 17th-26th

"Just as the great ocean has only one flavor - the flavor of salt; in the same way, these teachings and trainings have only one flavor - the flavor of freedom." -The Buddha (Ud 5.5) With that in mind, we will be spending nine days immersing ourselves in the ocean of wisdom imparted to us by the Buddha. In addition to meditating for several hours every day, we'll also study the first twenty discourses in the Majjhima Nikāya (Middle Length Discourses), as translated by Bhante Suddhāso, and and discuss their meaning and applicability.
