Night-time truck movements to be introduced in October

An application has been made for night-time heavy vehicle haulage movements to commence during October, to minimise impact on road-users, pedestrians and residents.
Night haulage:
An application has been made for trucks to begin entering and exiting the site at night from Sunday to Thursday, between 6:30pm and 6:30am, commencing during October until 23 December 2017.

Once the application is approved, a revised construction notice will be sent with the approved commencement date and details.

All truck operators will comply with the Traffic Management Plan and will remain conscious of their CBD surroundings, site neighbours and other road users and pedestrians.
What to expect:
The night-time truck haulage is necessary to safely transport materials and equipment to and from the construction site as part of the demolition and enabling works. If approved, the night-time truck movements will result in fewer truck movements during the day with 3 to 4 trucks on average to be loaded per hour overnight.

Noise will include truck engines and loading of rubble onto trucks by excavators at designated loading areas. Traffic controllers will be in place to minimise impacts on vehicle and pedestrian traffic as the trucks enter and exit the site. Additional road closures will not be required and no demolition work will be conducted at night.
Where:
Trucks will be accessing and leaving the designated loading areas within the site as detailed on the map provided below. The main entry points are William St (north) and Queens Wharf Rd, while the main exit points are William St (south) and Alice St.
Day haulage:
Truck movements during the day of up to 16 trucks per hour during peak loading periods will continue as per current haulage timings, which are:
  • Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm
  • Saturday from 6.30am until 6.30pm
Trucks are prohibited from entering and exiting the site during peak traffic periods, between 6.30am and 9am, and 4pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Trucks are also prohibited from entering the Margaret Street access gate between 12pm and 1.30pm on weekdays to minimise pedestrian disruption.
