Correction: MNL respectfully apologises for the misspelling of Lori Lee Oates' name in yesterday's Memo to Membership. 

Lori Lee Oates, Ph.D., ABC (Accredited Business Communicator), is an accomplished strategist, communications consultant, researcher, and policy analyst. As Co-Chair of Equal Voice NL, Lori completed her PhD. in one of the top 50 history departments in the world at the University of Exeter. She also has degrees in political science, sociology, and general humanities. Lori supports the advancement of women in public policy environments. She previously wrote a masters thesis on women and politics in Canada.

Food First NL has just launched the Community Application Process for the Our Food NL Project in the Coast of Bays!

From September 2017 – March 2020, Our Food NL in the Coast of Bays Region aims to:
  • Support 3 communities in completing a Community-led Food Assessment
  • Support the creation of programs to overcome local challenges accessing healthy and culturally-appropriate food
  • Improve communities’ awareness and knowledge of food security issues
  • Build local capacity to run locally-identified food programs
  • Support communities in developing sustainability plans for the programs following 2020.

Deadline for applications is October 11, 2017 and we will be engaging the Community Selection Committee in selecting the three final communities by October 20, 2017.
