Bingley Town Council mailing no. 13

Welcome to our 13th monthly mailing! We have developments on Bingley’s Neighbourhood Plan to report this month, and hope that this will encourage some of you to join our group of Councillors on the Council’s new Neighbourhood Plan working group.

Alongside this comes the latest news on Green and Clean activities, including our first station tidy-up session which takes place courtesy of our new station adoption group.

 Baubles, angel wings, stars, Christmas trees and sherbert fountains …  the choice was yours in our poll to decide what Bingley’s new Christmas lights would look like. We reveal the results below!

Bingley Town Council was delighted with the enthusiastic response to the survey on the proposed designs for new Christmas lights, and would like to thank everyone who voted.

The survey was carried out on the Council’s Facebook page and also through one-to-one polling in Bingley Main Street by Councillors Beckwith, Goode and O’Neill. Following the count, we can reveal that the most popular design was the Christmas trees. They received the largest share of the votes, with 468 out of 1,204 votes cast – an emphatic 38.9% of the vote.

The new lights will be in position on town centre lamp-posts by the 25th November, ready for the Christmas lights switch-on and Christmas Fayre. We look forward to working with Bingley Chamber of Trade on this event and to an extra-festive Main Street this year.

Next Saturday, 7th October, sees the Council’s next litter pick and the first station tidy-up session! This follows the adoption of both Bingley and Crossflatts stations by a new group of volunteers under the name of Action Stations (Bingley and Crossflatts).

Anyone who would like to help is invited to meet at the rear of Bingley railway station between 10am and 2pm. Come at any time up to 1.30, stop for a chat or stay for a couple of hours. We'll be litter picking at the rear of the station and in and around the car park and Wellington Street, and also tidying up some of the planted areas within the station.

All equipment provided, though if you'd like to help inside the station, please make sure you have study shoes and gloves and feel free to bring your own secateurs or loppers - we'll be supplying everything else.

Bingley Business Expo 2017

Bingley Town Council was pleased to support Bingley Business Expo at Bingley Arts Centre on Wednesday 27^th September. This inaugural event brought together local businesses to make connections and contacts and share ideas about growing Bingley’s business landscape. The Town Council was on hand to ask businesses how we could help them and to gather ideas about how to support the regeneration of the town.

Next Town Council meeting
 
The next meeting of the Town Council is at 6.30pm on Tuesday 31st October at Eldwick Memorial Hall. Please note that there will be no informal surgery with Councillors prior to the meeting.
