Newest Campus of the Noble Network of Charter Schools Opens Its Doors to Over 500 Public School Students

Mayor Emanuel and Alderman Burke Join Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Members to Cut Ribbon on Mansueto High School in Brighton Park

CHICAGO, IL – Today, the Noble Network of Charter Schools celebrated the grand opening of its new Mansueto High School to over 500 freshman and sophomores in the Brighton Park neighborhood near 47th and California. Mansueto is Noble's first campus on the Southwest side of Chicago. The school’s benefactors are Joe and Rika Mansueto, who chose to generously fund a significant community need that will positively impact thousands of lives.

Mansueto is Noble’s 17th high school campus and the newest part of Chicago's highest performing network of non-selective public schools. Noble currently serves 12,000 Chicago public school students. Each year, 99% of Noble graduates are accepted to college, including prominent universities across Illinois and the country, while earning millions of dollars in scholarships.

Mayor Emanuel, Ald. Burke, students, staff, and parents cut the ribbon to Mansueto High School.

“This is a gorgeous building, and what’s gorgeous about it is not just its architecture. What’s gorgeous is about the futures that are going to be built here,” said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “I can’t say enough about how beautiful this is and I would like everybody, not just in the city of Chicago but around the country, to come and see what we see, which is a lot of futures being built and a lot of futures that we can all be proud of. ”

While addressing the hundreds of students in attendance, Mansueto’s dynamic Principal Darko Simunovic added, “You have so many people working behind the scenes to make sure you have a good education. To say it takes a village is truly an understatement. Through collaboration, resilience, excellence, and optimism, all things are possible.”

Parents and supporters of Mansueto High School celebrate the grand opening.

“All students should have a high-quality, public education,” said Mansueto parent Vicky Enciso. “Everyone should have the opportunity to attend college. Mansueto High School brings this type of education to our neighborhood. Thank you to the Mansueto family for investing in our neighborhood and in our kids.”

Mansueto High School offers extremely rigorous college preparatory courses to all students, and is planning its first graduation for the Class of 2020. The students at Mansueto will proudly graduate from our nation’s highest performing universities and use the skills gained to enact positive change across the globe.
