Hello Readers, and I hope everyone is enjoying the loveliness of autumn! A quickie note from me today, for anyone who may have missed the information on my site or Facebook. This fall I'm offering an online workshop, a tutorial, in which we will explore the process of dietary formulation using the National Research Council's  2003 Nutrient Requirements of Dogs (I include these numbers in the course, no need to purchase the text).

Over a 6 week period, I will be online 4 times per week, for 90 minutes a session, to discuss the method, give examples and exercises and answer questions. The tutorial will help the complete beginner to learn the importance of covering all essentials (protein, fats/fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, energy) and will help the seasoned home feeder go deeper into an exploration of what nutrients do, how much is needed, and which foods provide them. The week will start with an article and general discussion, go into exercises and Q&A, and end up with a recap and example of a balanced recipe. You don't need to be online at all, at specific times, as everything is archived and you can read/refer to it at your convenience.

If you are interested in finding out more - please check my two entries on Facebook here: http://www.thepossiblecanine.com/home-prepared-canine-diets-online-tutorial

and here: http://www.thepossiblecanine.com/nutrition-tutorial-update

This is a unique, relaxed and personal journey, wherein we can look at YOUR recipes, adjust them, discuss the problems with variety-based nutrition, and generally empower you to go well beyond just feeding "fresh food". I hope to see many of you there!
