OPEN TABLE INFORMATION NIGHT - Open Table trains members of faith communities to translate their vocational and life experiences and networks into tools that people in poverty can use to transform their lives. A "table" is formed by 8-12 volunteers who mentor an impoverished individual or family for approximately one year. Together they develop and implement a life plan to empower them to begin living in the potential God gave them. Do you hear the call to serve? Join us on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:00 pm for more information. Click here to view the flyer with more information.
GIVING, PRAYING & SERVING - Thank you for your faithful financial giving to St. Patrick. Your financial support allows us to provide 208 Weekend Masses, 416 Daily Masses and Communion to over 220,000 people in one year. Thank you for your generosity. Together we are Christian Disciples in Mission Living Beyond Sunday.

October is Respect Life Month

During the month of October, we are using this "Dive into our Faith" section of the weekly Community Connection to share reflections from various sources on "life."

Hello Everyone!~

October is Respect Life Month. It is also Cancer Awareness Month, Dental Health Awareness month, a Marian month, and Playoff Baseball. It is also now a month that will be marked in history as containing the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history... You would think these things are unrelated, but they are not; they are LIFE.

Every month should be about respecting life, every day, every minute, every hour. Life is a precious gift. We must defend that gift from the moment of conception to the hour of natural death. This does not mean being “anti-abortion” or “against the death penalty.” It means being FOR LIFE. It is not us/them, or either/or; it is both/and.

It means standing up for the baby in the womb, and standing with the woman who doesn’t know what to do, or the mother who grieves an abortion, because they are Christ and we are one. It means comforting the victims of murder and standing with the perpetrator on death row, because they are Christ and we are one. It means standing up for the dignity of the elderly until the moment of natural death, even when they cannot stand for themselves, and walking with those who can’t take the pain and just want to go home, because they are Christ and we are one. It means protecting the people in the country in which we live, and welcoming the migrant seeking a better life, because they are Christ and we are one. It means celebrating the love of a couple who has been together for 50 years, and holding the hand of a friend who just went through a divorce, because they are Christ and we are one. It means getting the sick access to health care, and making sure that heath care respects life.

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO LOVE. It means loving those who we may not understand, or agree with: the unborn, the gay, the straight, the lost, the broken, the rich, the poor, the powerful, the meek, the black, the white, the religious, the atheist, the young, the old, the gun enthusiast, the peace loving tree hugger, the republican, the democrat, the labeled, and those without label... because we are Christ and we are one.
