THRIVE aims to inspire and encourage women and girls of all ages to lead healthy and happy lives by participating in a range of fun and social activities now available throughout the Toowoomba Region.

Free Flourish Workshop - Building Wellbeing (PERMA+)
Come along to a FREE 1 hour Flourish workshop and learn about evidence-based approaches towards encouraging more optimism, resilience, happiness, mindfulness, connection, zest and meaning into your life.
Learn how to increase positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment plus much more to improve wellbeing at the upcoming workshop:

FREE Cardio Tennis in the Park
Get together with friends and family and have a go at Cardio Tennis in the park. Arrive anytime between 8am and 12noon at the below upcoming sessions in Toowoomba:

Highfields parkrun 2nd Birthday
Join the friendly crew from Highfields parkrun to celebrate their 2nd birthday this Saturday, 28 October 2017, 7am, at Kratzke Oval, 40 Highgrove Drive, Highfields.

Looking for something fun to do? Get the kids outdoors to play a new augmented reality game at parks across the Toowoomba region. Download the free Magical Park App and bring your smartphone or tablet to the below Magical Parks sessions at a park near you and discover a digital fantasyland for children and families to explore. All Magical Parks activities are free, and no bookings are required.
A Halloween Game will be available from Monday 30 October to Sunday 5 November 2017 at the below locations:

Seed to Feed Workshop - Toowoomba
Come along to a Seed to Feed workshop by Brian Sams to learn about growing fruit and veg in your backyard, patches and pots. Workshops cost $5 and are held from 9am to 12noon on Saturdays. Upcoming workshop:

FREE Skateboarding Workshops
Ever wanted to learn how to skate like a pro? Check out a FREE skateboarding workshop and learn some new skills. Youth Connect will be running skateboarding workshops at the Chalk Drive Skate Park in Toowoomba on Wilsonton on Sundays (5,12 & 19 November), 2pm to 4pm.
Workshops cater for all levels from beginner to advanced. If you don’t have a skateboard no problem, we have spares available for use!

Children's Resilience & Wellbeing Survey
Attention parents of children aged 9 to 11 - a local psychologist and USQ PhD student is conducting research into children's resilience and wellbeing and is looking for parents and children to complete some short surveys.
To be part of this research project please complete a short online survey, about your child, and then have your child complete a similar survey. The link to these surveys can be found below:

Recipe of the Month - Grilled pumpkin, asparagus and chicken salad
4 servings 16 serves of veg 10m preparation 25m cooking
Ingredients
- olive or canola oil spray
- 8 chicken tenderloins (400g)
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 bunches asparagus, ends trimmed
- 450g Japanese, Kent or butternut pumpkin, peeled, cut into 5mm thick slices
- 420g no-added-salt brown lentils, drained and rinsed
- ⅓ cup balsamic vinegar
- 150g baby spinach or mixed leaves
- 250 g punnet cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
Method
- Spray a barbecue, char-grill or griddle with oil, pre-heat to medium-high.
- Place chicken in a small dish with ½ the crushed garlic and lemon juice; stir to coat, cover and refrigerate a chicken for as long as time permits, from 30 minutes to overnight.
- Place asparagus on heated grill and cook for 7 minutes or until lightly charred, turning occasionally. Remove from grill, cut into 5cm pieces then set aside.
- Respray grill and cook pumpkin in batches for 2-3 minutes each side until charred and just tender. Remove from heat, cut into 3cm triangles and set aside.
- Respray grill and cook chicken for 2-3 minutes each side until cooked through.
- In a small bowl combine lentils, remaining ½ clove crushed garlic and balsamic.
- Divide spinach or salad leaves, tomatoes, lentils with dressing, asparagus and pumpkin among serving plates. Sprinkle with parsley then top with chicken; serve immediately.
