We wrap up our season of Creature Features at Escutcheon on the 15th & We will have a wine rep from Chateau Fameay on the 19th.
We have an exciting evening planned on Thursday the 19th. You're going to have the opportunity to meet a rep from Chateau Famaey at 5pm. Florence Pispisa will be here to show case some world class wines from Cahors. Cahors is in southwestern France, east of Bordeaux. You now what Argentine Malbec is like, now try it from it's place of origin, "Cahors" in France. Château Famaey, is a vineyard dating back to 1850 & their vines are aged 35 to 65 years, make this a fully matured vineyard. We will provide light fare to pair with the wines. It's free! Please make plans to join us & sample some outstanding wines. Mark your calendar! Thursday the 19th!
Sunday is the Grand Finale of our Creature Feature Series at Escutcheon Brewery. We are showing two movies, the classic  Nosferatu & Horror Express (Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing & Telly Savalas) It'll start at 6pm & we'll take a break for the costume contest between movies. The prizes are awesome and donated from:

  • An intense, lively, fruity and balanced dry Chenin Blanc. Great minerality with pear & sherbet flavors. Aged for a long time on the lees, it has a great mouth feel and the fruity aromas are very pure and clean. The finish is long with a refreshing lime flavor
  • Nuna Bonarda Reserve 2012 (87 Points Wine Enthusiast) Regularly $16.59, Now $12.99 Evident aromas of prune and raisin show extreme ripeness. Like the nose, this feels ripe and chunky, with hard tannins. The 5 years on it have softened it, somewhat. Jammy, extracted flavors of raisin and black plum are oaky and peppery prior to a pushy finish with heat.
  • Indwe Pinotage Central Coast 2015 Regularly $12.59, Now $8.99 Indigenous to South Africa, Pinotage grapes come from producers along the Coastal region of the Western Cape. It's compels with depth and purity of fruit. The wine is layered with sweet cherry notes, and subtle hints of mocha and vanilla flavors.

We started a new feature with our last email with "Custemer Guest Reviews" with Jonathan Snowden from SU. This time it's from Heidi Hiller. I had the good fortune of studying with Heidi as she went for her Advanced Sommelier Level II. AND SHE PASSED! She is also a fellow corgi owner. This is her with her pup Diego. She reviewed the above Nuna Bonarda Reserve & proves wine changes with food!
A fruity and well balanced wine that made me think of a Beaujolais Nouveau, but with a fuller body and none of that tutti frutti taste. With ripe plum, fresh blackberry, raisin, and violet notes, this would be right at home on a Thanksgiving table or served with a spice rubbed pork tenderloin.
 
 
Not my review any longer: we actually had it with pork tenderloin, roasted radishes with their greens, and sweet potatoes and pears with allspice. Super good with all of it. After dinner we had a few pieces of dark chocolate covered candied ginger and it was SO good with that. I'm usually like "eh, chocolate and wine is overrated" but this was legitimately good!
