Ever wonder how great things happen in our neighborhood?

The Annual Summer BBQ, traffic safety and air quality advocacy, litter pickups, tree team, pesticide-free Arbor Lodge Park and more happen because your neighbors are volunteering to ensure that our neighborhood thrives.

Let us extend a warm invitation for you to get involved with us!

Do you have excellent organizational skills or party planning panache? Curious about new development, housing affordability and and seeing diverse voices shape the plans for the future of the neighborhood? Join us for our monthly meetings to share in the conversation. Interested in getting your hands dirty and being a part of month-to-month decision making? Step on up and offer to fill one of our vacant seats—we’d love to have you on the board!

Help by joining us on Thursday, October 19 at 6:30pm at the Historic Kenton Firehouse and voting in our new leadership. Click here to get the skinny on what's involved in being and becoming a board member. We think it's important to involve as many neighbors as possible in the selection of our board members. Even if you haven't been to a meeting before, you'll play an important role in our elections and get the insider's scoop on what’s happening in the neighborhood and across the city. Plus, we'll have pizza so you don't have to worry about dinner! Also, kids are welcome. We will have some coloring and other self-directed activities if your little one seems like the type who'd be willing to hang out for the meeting.

If you have ever spent time volunteering, you know that it takes all kinds of hard-working and dedicated people to make things happen. Projects don’t complete themselves, issues don’t advocate for themselves, community doesn't magically appear—people are the driving force.

Help us put the park to bed for the winter
Feel good and have a free burrito on us! There's just a few days until the final work party of 2017 at Arbor Lodge Park. Join us to weed, spread bark mulch, flame weed curbing and baseball back stops and dug outs. We'll provide snacks and water, then take up to 30 volunteers out for a free lunch at Azteca Burrito at noon. Neighborhood volunteers keep our park pesticide free, so come meet neighbors, and help your Park.

See you at 9 on October 14th! Details Here.

Greeley Traffic Safety Open House
10/25/17, 6:30 PM, Madrona Hill Cafe

Help us make an impact as we work to resolve the situation of unsafe driving along N Greeley and parallel streets. We (a group of neighbors from Arbor Lodge and Overlook) will be gathering data from you, our neighbors, to help us better advocate to the City for safety improvements in the neighborhood. We will also share information about specific ways you and your neighbors can take action in the short- and long-term to make changes happen. We'll have free food and drink to make it worth your while! See you on the 25th!

Food and supplies for this event are funded through a Neighborhood Small Grant from North Portland Neighborhood Services and the Office of Neighborhood Involvement. More grants available now for next year - see below for details on how to fund your idea!

Emergency Preparedness Opportunities

This fall's fires, hurricanes and earthquakes are a reminder that it's always a good time to get prepared.

Help our Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) test their community emergency plans during a Deployment Exercise on Monday, October 16th from 7-8:30pm at Kenton Park. They will be responding to a fictional scenario where community members are in danger in the community, and they need to deploy Search & Rescue to teams to them. Your presence - and especially your questions - will help them practice communicating with the public and working under pressure.

Save the date for this free emergency preparedness event just down the road in Kenton November 12!

Plus, it sounds like the NET team is also hosting an interesting presentation on Levee Ready Columbia November 20th.
Heads up!
Changes to zoning (hights and setbacks of homes, number of residences allowed on a lot, etc.) in the neighborhood are being proposed through a planning process called the Residential Infill Project. See what changes are being proposed to your neck of the neighborhood (primarily if you live west of Greenwich), by looking at the Map App. Learn what it all means and how different zones and changes might look in this informative Project Summary
