📱 You can minimize drafts in Mail

When drafting a new message in Apple Mail on iPhone or iPad, you can minimize the message. Tap on the bar at the top of the message, then drag it down.

This allows you to browse the rest of your mail, search for another message, or grab an attachment.

📱💻 Preface Calendar with emoji to make them more recognizable, fun

Got a great trick from my friend Dan Peterson. Try adding emoji to the beginning of your calendar events. If you come up with a system, it helps them to be more identifiable when glancing at alerts or your schedule. It’s also just kinda fun.

For example: 💪🏻 or 🏃🏽‍♀️ might be good for your workout events. I used 🎥 for date night this weekend to see Blade Runner 2049 (it was fantastic, go see it). 🎉 and 🍻 are good for meeting up with friends. I guess there are some good work-related ones too. 😉

📱 Wire messaging supports markdown for headings, lists, code, and more

iMessage is great and all, but not everyone has Apple devices. For encrypted non-Apple messaging, Wire is my personal choice. The app is well-designed, there are versions for most platforms (including iPad and Mac), it’s open source, and it even supports Markdown.

You can use the popular web writing syntax for creating lists, headings, and more in your messages. Just tap the Aa button on the left of the text box and go to town.

📱 Two-finger tap links in Safari for iPhone to open them in a new tab

What the headline says. It’s pretty quick and useful. I wish this worked on iPad.

📱💻 Pin notes in Apple Notes

Swipe right on any note to reveal a pin option. This will keep the note at the top of your list, no matter how many newer notes you create. Swipe again to unpin it.

📱Take a screenshot on iPad and go straight to editing

There are two ways to take a screenshot on an iPad: press the Power and Home buttons at the same time, or use Command-Shift-3 on a keyboard.

If you want to go straight to editing, though, use Command-Shift-4. This will take the screenshot and immediately bring up the new quick editing tools in iOS 11.

📺 See what time you’ll be done watching something on Apple TV

While watching something, tap the trackpad on an Apple TV Siri Remote to see a timeline and how much viewing time is left (note: lightly tap on it, don’t click the button).

Tap again, and the timeline changes to show you both the current time and the actual time you’ll be done watching.

😟 People apparently treat Siri as a therapist, according to an unusual Apple job posting

⌚️ A small-screen iPod, an internet communicator, and a phone - “The Watch was born a timepiece but it is traversing through the early iPhone and pulling in a new direction all of its own. The fact that we are talking about “Resting Rate”, “Arrhythmia” and “Atrial fibrillation” at a timekeeping launch event indicates that new behaviors will follow and so will the language we’ll use to describe this child-like product once it grows up.”
