"A Documentary Film Where Far East Meets Deep South"
Join SDCHM for a film screening of AWARD-WINNING documentary, the Finding Cleveland Experience, followed by a special live musical performance and Q&A with the film directors--Baldwin Chiu and Larissa Lam.
The Finding Cleveland Experience is an entertaining, uplifting and unique educational program for the community. The event starts with musical performances by Larissa Lam and Baldwin Chiu (aka Only Won), then a screening of their award-winning documentary, Finding Cleveland, followed by a discussion on the impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act on the Chiu family and the importance of Asian American stories and capped off with a time of audience Q&A.
Finding Cleveland follows Baldwin Chiu as he and his family learn about his grandfather, KC Lou and uncover the little known history of Chinese immigrants in Mississippi during segregation and the Chinese Exclusion Act.
