PRAYER NEEDS FOR LIBERIA AND FAIR SHAKE VILLAGE

ELECTIONS TOMORROW

There are over 20 individuals on the ballot for President of Liberia in the elections tomorrow (November 10).  These are challenging times and the future needs of Liberia are for meaningful, real change.  As one fellow missionary put it: “In this 2017 election, Liberia needs leaders that are humble servants of God and His children. Help me to pray for the fruits of honesty and truth to overcome the deeply ingrained rotten fruit of lust for money and power called corruption that is present not just within our leaders, but within ourselves.” (www.glennsgoglobal.wordpress.com)

MARY BEH HOSPITALIZED

As many of you know Mary Beh, the directress of the MODUC orphanage in Buchanan, please be praying for her health and the home.  Apparently she fell over some chairs at the orphanage and “dislocated” her hip.  She is in a hospital in Monrovia where she was told that she would need to lie flat on her back for 4 weeks to heal. Esther K. Smith, Mary’s right-hand coworker, is leading at the home in Mary’s absence.

FUNDING FOR GATHERING CENTER

By God’s grace we are now nearly halfway to our $55,000 goal for the 2nd and biggest phase of the Gathering Center construction.  We want so much to take advantage of this dry season for this construction so if there is any way you could help with any part of the last $29,000 need, we would appreciate it.
SUMMER TRAVELING AND HEALING

Throughout the summer months we have had the privilege of visiting family, friend, hurricane sites and various ministries.  Because the test that Ken had in June revealed he had bladder cancer, there was a need to do some traveling adjustment and “unplanning”.  After the treatment and follow-up in July we were encouraged that, as the doctor put it, this type of cancer generally returns but by staying active in follow-up, it will be more of a nuisance that a threat.   The next follow-up is November 28.  The time of our return to Liberia will be determined by that exam.
Our travels took us to Utah where we fellowshipped with Utah Valley Church and a Liberian congregation that meets in downtown Salt Lake City.  Ken was privileged to be able to preach at both congregations in our time there.  Along with our family visits, we had a blessed time sharing with a missions teams from Hillsboro and Mountain View, MO.  We also renewed and refreshed old friendships and established new ones.
We followed our Utah trip by chasing hurricane locations in Houston and Florida where family and friends are located.  There, too, we renewed friendships and rejoiced in His provision, even in the midst of the catastrophes and storms.

HEADING FOR MISSOURI, ILLINOIS AND INDIANA

Now we head for the Midwest.  We are looking forward to visiting and sharing with our numerous friends there. We will be there from mid-October to late November. Would you like to have a visit? Contact us at ken@hccwired.com or text (636-209-2445) or Facebook message.

Thank you for your ongoing love, prayers and support as we keep on keeping on!!
Blessings,
Ken and Carolyn Vogel
