Northern Marianas enjoys arrivals boom from Republic of Korea


 
The popularity of the Northern Mariana Islands continues to soar with visitors from Korea (ROK). In August 2017, arrivals from that market posted impressive growth of 43.7 percent compared to August 2016. Korea (ROK) has remained the largest source market for Northern Marianas since June 2016. China held a 37.4 percent share, reporting significant growth of 20.5 percent compared to the same month last year. Despite the decline from other source markets such as Japan (-23.3%), the Russian Federation (-2.4%) and Philippines (-36.4%), the overall year-on-year growth in August 2017 for Northern Marianas shows an increase of 24.6 percent.

As part of the APEC Tourism Working Group, Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority is conducting research on voluntourism best practices.
