Prayer Partners Autumn 2017

Autumnal greetings everyone!

The holidays are over and the nights are drawing in but we are excited about what this new season will bring. We really appreciate the prayer support that we receive from all over the Diocese and have recently been told that our newsletter is pinned up on fridges and noticeboards to remind our partners to pray for us. Thank you

Here is a bit more information about what we have been up to and some of the things we would like you to pray about:

National Citizen Service

Kath was invited to be a Dragon! (No jokes please)

The NCS are a charity who work with young people aged 15 to 17 who want adventure, discovery and to be involved in social action in their community. Towards the end of their programme they hold a ‘Dragons’ Den’ at which the young people present their ideas for a community project and bid for money to help them from the dragons. It was wonderful to see so many young people with a passion for their community and who were using their school holidays so well.

This particular programme was working in Tameside and the panel was in Dukinfield. The MP for the area, Andrew Gwynne, was also on the panel and was very complimentary about TLT!

Please pray for the young people in our communities who are not connected to life enhancing experiences and pray that our churches can become places where they could experience community.

We are continuing to see growth in our Places of Welcome network and currently we have 12   in Chester Diocese.  We would love to help more of you to consider this ministry and especially in the east side of our area.  If you would like to know more please check out our website for details or contact us and we will come and talk about how to set up. Please pray that this network grows and flourishes as we attempt to show God’s love in a practical way.
This summer saw more churches than ever before providing food and fun for children in the holidays.  We are working hard to help more churches to consider this mission. Families who rely on free school meals to manage their limited budgets are challenged by the extra demands of school holidays and many just can’t meet the additional cost. Also, many children struggle to compete with their peers at school when asked about their holiday experiences.  These fantastic projects have provided children with food and fun and many parents have appreciated the opportunity to join in and see how their children can enjoy activities on a budget.

On Monday, 25th September, we will be running the second of our Filling the Gap training events.  The last one in April was well attended and we know that some of those participants have had a go this summer as a result.  We hope to welcome some of them back on the 25th to tell their stories and see new people who are keen to find out more.
We are already quite full but please go to our website for more details.
Please pray that it is an enjoyable and inspiring event for all who attend.
Once again, please accept our grateful thanks for your prayers and support. Please feel free to share this newsletter with friends, neighbours, colleagues and churches.
