PRISM Quartet and Andrew Bishop Play Ann Arbor

 

On October 16th, the PRISM QuartetTim McAllister, Zach Shemon, Matt Levy, and Taimur Sullivanperforms a concert in Ann Arbor featuring music by acclaimed Michigan composers Kristin Kuster (University of Michigan), Alexis Bacon (Michigan State University), and Christopher Biggs (Western Michigan University). The program includes the world premiere of Biggs’ “Surfaces and Essences” and a performance of “Forbidden Drive,” a new work by PRISM’s resident composer, Matt Levy, featuring guest saxophonist Andrew Bishop (University of Michigan). PRISM also presents an adaptation of “Fearful Symmetries” by Pulitzer Prize-winner John Adams from the Quartet’s just released “Paradigm Lost” album (XAS Records). Plus, one of PRISM’s favorites, “Night Music,” by rising star Emma O’Halloran.

PRISM Quartet and Joe Lovano premiered "Forbidden Drive" at (le) poisson rouge in NYC in June. Tenorist Andrew Bishop joins PRISM for "Forbidden Drive" in Ann Arbor on October 16th.
