Breaking Bread
Jumpstarting the day with God's word for the week ahead.

W.W.J.D.

For many years I’ve seen this acronym printed on T-shirts, necklaces. bracelets and other items. It’s almost become a cliche, but it’s meaningful.

W.W.J.D. means “What would Jesus do?” Something to think about. What would Jesus do if He were living your life? What if He worked where you work? What if He shopped where you shop? What if Jesus traveled on your bus, rode in your car, read your texts (and your social media) or listened to your conversations…Would He do anything differently?

Would His physical presence change your lifestyle? Would you find it easy to have Him in your everyday life, or would it be an embarrassment to you if He should showed up?

Here are some things I know about Jesus. Firstly, He would love you and the people you work and live with, and He would find a way to show it. Jesus would not be afraid of being rejected or misunderstood. He would show everyone that He is different than all the gods of this world. His love for people and His desire to give them eternal life would mandate action. LOVE.

Secondly, Jesus would not condemn anyone for their sins. He would be compassionate. He knows that sinners have been born with a sinful nature that only He can change. He would care. He would see the pain of that obnoxious person in the workplace. He would find a way to connect with them. He would build bridges. COMPASSION.

Thirdly, Jesus would be very open about His purpose for living. He would not worry about what people say, but He would very honestly and sincerely let everyone know that His very reason for existence is to bring men and women into a personal relationship with His heavenly Father. What an exciting reason for living! PURPOSE.

What about you? Why do you live? Is it to glorify God with your life? Is it to bring others to this wonderful life in Jesus, or is it just to please yourself? Is it to “do what Jesus would do?”

 MEDITATE

Ask yourself - what would Jesus do if He were faced with the same circumstances you are in now? What could be different from what you're doing now so that you would be more like Jesus?

  STUDY

Philippians 2:1-2
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit,if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Reading Plan: 2 Corinthians 5-11

 PRAY

Heavenly Father, you are the one who changes people. I ask that You change me to become more like Jesus. Help me to rethink what I say and do so I am aligned to Him. Help me to remember to ask myself the question…”what would Jesus would do?"

 LIVE

Do what Jesus does: LOVE, COMPASSION, PURPOSE. Find a way to show the people around you that you care, without fear of being rejected or misunderstood. Try to show compassion for those who are far from Jesus and connect with them. Be honest and sincere about sharing your faith to others. #DoWhatJesusDoes #buildbridges #reasonforliving
