New Library Building Update: Our deadline of raising funds by December 2017 is fast approaching. Some of the funds we already have are contingent on the fact we raise the full amount; if we don't, we won't receive these committed funds.
We are happy to share the news of Isabella Bank donating $10,000 to the building fund. We are now really close to the 1.5 million mark. Complete project budget is $2.8 million.
If you haven't donated to building fund, please consider doing so now. We are blessed in that residents have already donated a little over $26,000 to the building fund. For those who keep saying "we plan on giving" , do so soon. Donations are tax deductible.
Have you thought of donating $75 in honor of our 75th anniversary? The new library will not be built without YOU!

Come check out our Makerspace Station located at the blue table in the Juvenile Section of the library! This is a self help activity that changes every 2 weeks. These activities make kids think, learn, and create all while having fun at the library. This month's activities are:
October 2nd - October 13th ......Marble Paper
October 16th - October 27th .... Straw Rocket
October 30th - November 10th ..... Hopping Corn
Have some spare time and want to keep the kids occupied? Come hang out at the library and try out some of the STEM kits. These kits are available for use at the library anytime, just ask at the counter. They make noise, light up, and are fun for the kids (adults too)!

Programming (reminder, you do not have to have a library card nor reside in our service area to participate in our activities, both computers and programming are open to everyone).
Drop in Craft: October 26th, 1:30-7:00 p.m. Drop in anytime during these hours to make a fun craft.
Page Turners (our book group) will meet Monday,October 30 at 1:00 p.m. to discuss "The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House" by Kate Andersen Brower. New members welcome, books available at the library.
Play to Learn: We meet back up on Monday, September 18th 9:30-11. This is for children from birth - age 5. Parents/children meet up for social time, crafts, and music.

It's MAP time--all year long! Though really, it is available all year round! As everyone begins to enjoy the beauty of living in Michigan, be sure to check out the Michigan Activity Pass at www.michiganactivitypass.info You can search by zip code to find events and locations that participate in MAP; then enter your information to get tickets or discounts on the events you are interested in. There is a variety of things to choose from: campgrounds, state parks, museums and more. Take a look; it might be nice to have a back up plan for a vacation rainy day. |
