No Meeting Oct 8th

There will be no meeting this week, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Our regular weekly meetings will resume on Sunday, October 15th, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Happy Thanksgiving to our sangha family.
Gratitude for Miracles

"
People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child — our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”

-- Thich Nhat Hanh,
The Miracle of Mindfulness

Empty Bowls

Martha's Table will host the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser at Queen's University Club, Sunday, October 29th. Tickets are $35.00. Diners chose from a menu of gourmet soups, served in a one-of-a-kind handcrafted pottery bowl that they get to keep. Kingston’s finest bakeries, restaurants, and local businesses donate bread, soup, and auction items, and talented potters make the bowls. In 2016, $23,000.00 was raised in 2016. Cultivating Compassion

"I myself would not like to go to a place where there is no suffering. Because I know without suffering we will have no chance to learn how to understand and to be compassionate. It is by being in touch with suffering that we can cultivate our understanding and our compassion."

-- Thich Nhat Hanh,
"Cultivating Compassion" Sept 2001
