It's Halloween Week! What exciting plans do you have? I'll be taking Tigger and a friend of hers trick-or-treating tomorrow night, and I don't even have a costume planned yet! YIKES! I also have two shirts to paint today...wish me luck!

On another note...

Do you know what a zine is?

Speaking of painting.....I realize that my latest post is pretty off-topic from the norm here at A Hair In My Biscuit, but I'm really excited to share it with you today.

First of all, I haven't put up a new post in a really long time...like, months. I won't make excuses for that. And I know that many of you are here for the hair and makeup posts, or maybe the recipes I share, but I hope you'll humor me today. If you've followed my blog for very long at all, then you know I'm one of those artistic, creative types who loves to draw, sketch, doodle, paint, and make stuff. It's in my blood!

That's why my latest post is so near and dear to my heart...it's all about my first illustration job, and the awesome fun I had doing it. I got to do the artwork for a zine!

Don't know what a zine is? Well then, you must read the post! Drawing for a Zine | My First Zine Fest tells the whole story, from the definition of a zine to how I came to draw for one. It was such a wonderful experience all the way around, and I just had to share it with you.

I highly recommend that you check out my friend Daniel's Etsy shop. You can even get a sneak peek at more of my drawings if you click on the listing for Holden while you're there. I've provided a link to his shop in the blog post, and Daniel and I would be much obliged if purchased through that link. :)

And, just so you know, I've missed all of you. I truly don't want to make excuses for my absence, but if you've ever been a band parent or been in marching band yourself, you surely will have a smidge of understanding for why I've been so remiss. Pooh's amazing marching band is having a great season, complete with daily practices, Friday night ballgames, and Saturday contests. Needless to say, we've been a little busy!

On top of that, Tigger made the basketball team this year (YAY Tigger!), and the seasons coincide. Her team is 3-0...whoop!

With all of that said, I do have new content up my sleeve and I'm not going anywhere! Please stick around and keep visiting A Hair In My Biscuit...it would be nothing without all of you!

X,O,X,O,   Martie

In case you haven't been a long-time subscriber, and in case you didn't know about my love of drawing and doodling, I'll share a couple of older posts with you. Here's a post that shows off some of my favorite drawings with my favorite medium: Prismacolor 48 Colored Pencils.
To catch a glimpse at a few more of my drawings, you can visit this one:
My Big Ol' Bag.  I still haven't filled up that enormous art journal!

Here's one that is definitely relevant to the season! Little Pumpkin Decorating Ideas is one of my favorite posts, even if it is four years old. And those KISS pumpkins? Yeah, I still adore them. Too bad pumpkins don't last forever! Be sure to visit that post and see all the other tiny painted pumpkins I did that year! They're just spooktacular!!

If you're all about the Halloween stuff, you should definitely visit the blog and type "Halloween" into the search bar. You won't be disappointed!
