LCUK website re-launch on 19th Oct 2017 - check it out at www.LCUK.org.uk
The Lohana Community of United Kingdom (LCUK) was founded in 1978 to form a national body whose main objectives are to promote the cultural, religious, social, linguistic and economic welfare of Lohanas in the United Kingdom. Since then it has grown steadily and today all regional Lohana Mahajans are members of the LCUK.

Our new-look website is being launched on Diwali day 19th October 2017 and is the 3rd revision. We are the first national Lohana organisation worldwide to have launched a website as early as 2001. The LCUK eNewsletter- the first UK Lohana digital newsletter – was launched in January 2006.
LCUK Events for 2018
We are planning a Variety Show on 25th February 2018 and a special Mahila event on 11th March 2018 to celebrate International Women's Day. The LCUK Sports event will also be hosted over a long weekend in summer of 2018. More details will be made available via our new website and future eNewsletter mailshots. Watch this Space ........

BBC News begins huge India investment
BBC News have begun a major expansion in India on 2nd October 2017, launching news services in four Indian languages: Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu - and re-launching a nightly TV news bulletin in Hindi, BBC Duniya, to be broadcast on India News. Roopa Rajani who works for the BBC has been actively involved in helping to set up and recruit staff for the new services. Her work has included coverage of the International Indian Film Academy Awards all over the world.

This forms part of a significant BBC investment in India, including an expanded news bureau in Delhi with 2 new TV studios. The Delhi bureau is now the BBC’s largest outside the UK. It will become a video, TV and digital content production hub for the whole of South Asia. This follows a huge talent drive in India, with the BBC recruiting more than 150 new journalistic staff from across the country.
British Parliament Diwali Celebrations to have UK Lohana speakers
SHYAM's Diwali celebrations at the House of Commons of the British Parliament in on 23rd October 2017. The theme of this year's event will be Lakshmi: Vedic Secrets to Inner and Outer Prosperity from the Shree Suktam of the Rig Veda. With a line-up this year that includes inspirational talks on the Vedic Secrets to Inner and Outer Prosperity from the Symbolism of Lakshmi by renowned politicians, Hindu scholars and leading professionals in the City, are two young Lohanas.

The science behind the power of Vedic mantras and how one can see the results of them is by Vishal Jobanputra, international investment banker and speaker. Life lessons on maintaining and preserving wealth and how to achieve financial freedom is by Jay Jobanputra, author, co-founder of JD Booster Maths and in-house consultant at the Bank of England.
UK Lohana teenager sets up £12m Estate Agency
Akshay Ruparelia spent his lunch breaks at school selling houses. The young entrepreneur set up an online estate agency while in the sixth form. And his business model has been such a hit that his company, Doorsteps, has been valued at £12 million.

Akshay, 19, put plans of studying economics and management at Oxford University on hold because the firm - which charges just £99 in commission - is proving so popular that this week it became the 18th biggest estate agency in the country, just 16 months after its website went live. The firm, which he started after persuading family members to lend him £7,000, employs 12 people. He recently raised £400,000 from investors on a crowdfunding enterprise website in exchange for 3.25 per cent of his business. With Akshay and an uncle owning the remaining shares, the teenager is theoretically worth millions.
Lohana presented Pride of India Award on 15th September 2017
Atul Lakhani is the founder, Managing Director and CEO of multi-award winning Sanjay Foods. A graduate in BA (Hons) Economics, Atul has held various public posts including: Director of the Leicester Asian Business Association (LABA), Director of the Leicester Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Belgrave Business Association (BBA).

He has worked and primarily been involved in the hospitality sector. Initially, within the family business, the internationally renowned Bobby’s Restaurant in Leicester and then subsequently setting up the Mirch Masala chain of restaurants. Atul’s commitment to professional catering, and a passion for health and hygiene, saw him gain top marks in Leicester in Advance Food Hygiene. Thereafter, Atul worked as a Development Consultant for Best Foods and Thomas Morell Foods. Atul was also a lead Consultant in the development of the multi million pound Peepul Centre in Leicester, championing equality and diversity.
