CECILE LICAD: CHOPIN IN THE KEY OF C (or Chopin in the key of "DO")
Rustan’s, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and The Philippine Italian Association,
in cooperation with
The Peninsula Manila, Lexus and
L’Opera Ristorante Italiano,
are proud to present a concert that highlights world-class Filipino talent with “Cecile Licad Chopin in the Key of C.” (or in the key of "Do", in Italian)
To be held on October 27, 2017, Friday at 8:00 PM at the CCP Main Theater, the concert will feature the timeless classics:
Chopin’s Concerto No.1 in E Minor ("MI minore") and Chopin’s Concerto No. 2 in F Minor ("FA minore") which will be brought to life through the impressive musicality of multi-awarded classical pianist Cecile Licad.
The PPO will play Genoveva’s Overture as opening number under the baton of Olivier Ochanine.
Licad, who became one of the youngest musicians to receive the prestigious Leventritt Gold Medal at 19 years old, discovered her passion for music at the age of three and found a mentor in Rosario Picazo. At seven years old, she debuted as a soloist with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
Cecile Licad reunites with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of former Music Director and Principal Conductor, Olivier Ochanine, who will lend a dramatic backdrop to her moving notes.
Proceeds from the concert will all go to the San Pablo Apostol Parish Church in Tondo, Manila under the stewardship of an Italian priest, Fr. Carlo Bittante of the Canossian Sons of Charity, one of the three Italian Missionary-run charities supported by the Philippine Italian Association.
Tickets are available at P5,000, P3,000, P1,000, and P500.

VIVIANA RICCELLI'S EXHIBIT
The Philippine Italian Association is proud to co-present the latest exhibit of the Italian artist based in the Philippines, Viviana Riccelli: In preda ad un’allucinazione. Dream Mode. “Between the Sky and Earth in Siquijor”.
This exhibit explores unconscious depths that form figures and eventually transforms into a spatial picture, observing different divisions of lines and shapes coupled with tonal colors that imbibe the mood of the image. It invites the viewer to glimpse through an angle, a window of a perhaps temporal scene of a place and of longing for it.
The exhibit will run until October 28 at Galleria Duemila, Pasay.
Viviana Riccelli has studied art extensively in Rome, Berlin, Venice and Cairo. She continuously explores the Philippines as part of her study on experiencing different cultures, forming her perception, and discovering her deep-set love for painting and drawing. She has been under the apprenticeship of famous American Abstract Expressionist movers such as Nicolas Carone and Beverly Pepper. She extends her knowledge through teaching for Verocchio Art School and Art Center in Umbria.

ITALIAN FILMS
20 SIGARETTE (20 cigarettes) is a very good film about youth, war, a terrorist attack against an Italian military contingent and its coverage by the media.
The film is set in Iraq during the 2nd Gulf War. We chose it not just for its artistic qualities but also for its relevance today. The wave of terrorist attacks in EU, the catastrophe of war in Syria and the media talk of a possible war against North Korea convinced us to propose this film.
Screening schedule: Oct. 20th after the Italian reception at FDCP, Kalaw street, Manila.
I SOLITI IGNOTI (Big Seal on Madonna Street) is a fun film considered to be one of the masterpieces of the Italian crime comedy (with giants of the Italian Cinema such as Totò, Vittorio Gassmann, Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Cardinale, under the direction of Mario Monicelli).
The movie narrates the story of a group of small-time thieves and bums who bungle an attempt to rob a state-run pawn-shop in Rome.
Screening schedule: Oct: 17 at 5:00 PM
