Bringing you church news, opportunities to put our faith in action and prayer requests.

OCTOBER 22
Stacy Hudelson will be sharing!

Sunday, I tried something new and I wore a robe.  I also invited the congregation to do some new things by passing the peace with someone on the opposite side of the room and digging deep to make an offering to God for the work of the Church.

When was the last time you tried something new?

In life, routines help us to manage our daily tasks.  We get up, do the same thing, eat the same breakfast, drive to the same places, but we lose sight of the intention behind it.

This week, I invite you to be intentional in everything you do.  Try something new and plan further ahead than normal.  Try something new and drive a different route than normal.  Try something new and invite someone to church.  Whatever it is, make it intentional and do it 100%.

Lastly, I am excited to celebrate "Laity Sunday" this week and have Stacy Huddelson provide the sermon in worship on Sunday.  The Laity are the life-blood of the church.  The laity is YOU.  You lead our children's ministries, youth ministries, bible studies, fellowship time, committees, and more.  We could not do what we do as Meeker United Methodist Church if not for all of your hard work and dedication to living a life like Jesus would live.

I'll see you in worship on October 29th.  We will also be trick-or-treating for UNICEF on 10/29, so bring kids in their costumes!

Be a blessing this week,

Pastor David Petty

Financial Update:Due to some unexpected expenses, we found ourselves tightening our belts over the summer.  Our cash reserves were slowly depleting and measures needed to be taken to get us through.  Through careful consultation between Trustees, Finance Committee, and Church Council, it was decided to extend the term of our existing church building loan in order to reduce monthly expenses.  Prior to this chance, the loan payment was approximately $3300/month.  Now, it is approximately $1650/month.  Freeing up this cash each month will allow us to build up our cash reserves.  Once our reserves are back to normal, we will continue to make the initial payment in the hopes of paying off the debt as soon as possible.
Thank you for your generosity and understanding when it comes to sensitive church financial matters.
