"Furoshiki"- inspired by a segment with Pepper Cory on Quilting Arts TV , I pieced strips of vintage Japanese indigos I purchased in Japan last winter with my computer manipulated images of the Heian Shrine in Kyoto and a Japanese inspired cotton fabric panel to make my own 32" x 32" Furioshiki - the fabric square used traditionally in Japan to wrap parcels. I added my own hand stitched - and rather wobbly - sashiko in white thread. I love that look contrasting with the dark indigo cotton.

I'm so excited to be off to Houston Quilt Festival this week! it's been a couple of years since I've attended this amazing event in the quilting world. (Photo above from 2014 with my "Whats For Dinner "exhibit entry. This time I'm going with my great friend and traveling companion Roberta Walley (Japan 2017) who has never been before. I'm looking forward to seeing some fabulous quilts, seeing all the latest fabrics and tools and spending time with quilting friends old and new! I'm also honored to have two of my pieces exhibited at Festival. See below.
I'll be in the Cherrywood Van Gogh Challenge exhibit on Thursday, November 2 from 11-12. in aisle T along Main Street in Hall E. They've asked artists in the Van Gogh Challenge who are in town to sign their newly published book of the exhibit. If you're in town, come by to say hello!
