DUT APP ANNOUNCED AS A FINALIST AT THE 2017 MTN BUSINESS APP OF THE YEAR AWARDS


IThe Durban University of Technology Mobile Application (DUT App) has been named as one of the finalists for the 2017 MTN Business App of the Year Awards.

The DUT App was launched in May 2017, with a series of roadshows that took place on all DUT campuses in Durban and in Pietermaritzburg.

The third-year Environmental Health student from the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is flying the ‘green’ flag high for DUT in recognition for his contribution to ensure a clean and safe environment.

“I’m delighted to know that the field of Environmental Health is becoming increasingly recognized in South Africa and these kinds of awards will motivate and prompt students to achieve excellence in this vital field of study,” said the jubilant Nicholas Pillay, upon winning best performing student in Environmental Health in South Africa, recently.

HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT STUDENT ALL SET TO WORK IN ABU DHABI

The Durban University of Technology’s Mbalenhle Majola will be jetting off for Abu Dhabi on Saturday, 14 of October 2017.

The Umkomaas lass is all set to spend the next six months of her Work Intergraded Learning (WIL) at the prestigious Park Hyatt Hotel restaurant in Saadiyat Island Abu Dhabi.

After a long journey of security scrutiny with her WIL coordinator, the enthusiastic Majola is very excited to be given the opportunity to experience working in the Arab hospitality sector.

DUT Fashion Show

DUT FASHION SHOW, A GREAT SUCCESS

Showcasing the amazing craft of students, the Fashion and Textile department at Durban University of Technology (DUT) recently hosted its annual fashion show at the Fred Crookes Sports Centre.

The aim of the annual event was to give students a platform to showcase their dynamic and exciting garments under the theme of “False Gods”.

This year’s panel of judges involved designers such as George Vorster, Gavin Rajah and the famous Holmes Bros, to name but a few.

The DUT Cricket team

NAICKER SPINS THE DUT CRICKET TEAM TO THIRD PLACE

A successful T20 tournament has seen the Durban University of Technology Cricket team move up the rankings to third place and also earned right-hand batsman and right- hand off-spinner Theesan Naicker, the ‘man of the tournament’ accolade.

The team recently returned from the University Sport South Africa (USSA) games in Kimberley. The DUT team, which is part of group A because of its outstanding performance, played against the likes of University of Zululand, University of Limpopo, Vaal University of Technology and Walter Sisulu University.
