The Northern Connections project is on track
The first reporting period for Northern Connections is about to finish. In general, the project is on the right track according to the overall time schedule. Each Work Package is off to a good start and the focus is on closer collaboration between the partners.

Renewable Energy Hamburg cluster at Husum Wind 2017 exhibition
“Welcome to the home of wind energy” – This has been the claim of the onshore exhibition Husum Wind for many years now. In 2017, the claim made more sense than before. The storm, “Sebastian”, almost blew the exhibition tents away. Nevertheless, exhibitors, participants and the team of Husum Wind kept calm and carried on.

Northern Connections at NSR Sustainable Corridors Conference
Just before the summer, Northern Connections participated at the Interreg NSR Conference Sustainable Corridors in Göttingen, Germany. During the workshop sessions in the afternoon, there was the possibility to get involved in a variety of discussions on e.g. how to use your steering group and how to keep your project on the right track. We met colleagues from around the North Sea and had great exchange of experience on these matters.

Innovation + internationalisation of cleantech = Northern Connections
On september 15th, OREEC gathered 140 representatives from the private sector, the public sector and from academia in Oslo for an international meeting aiming to present Northern Connections for all actors and to set internationalisation through collaboration between cities and clusters, on the agenda.

Synergy with ClusterFY at Northern Connections Transnational Workshop
The Northern Connections Interregional WP4 and WP5 meeting will be held on October 16 to October 18, 2017. The transnational workshop will take place in Groeningen in the Northern Netherlands. The topic of these workshop days will be WP4 and WP5 in collaboration with SNN Interreg C Project ClusterFY. It is thus a prime example on how synergy with other projects can be expressed in joint events.

The Swedish Government wants to invest in new test environment
The Swedish Government has promised to invest about 105 million euro in a new test environment for electric vehicles at Lindholmen in Gothenburg. The move further strengthens the Gothenburg region’s position as one of the world’s leading clusters in the shifting automotive industry. The new test centre will be owned by Chalmers University of Technology and Rise, the Swedish Research Institute, which is headquartered at Lindholmen.

A toolbox for clusters
A new toolbox in relation to the Northern Connections project will be published in December 2018, and it will contain practical tools for creating events, services, long-term initiatives and internationalisation. Additionally, the toolbox is an inspirational catalogue, which comprehends matchmaking, knowledge sharing and idea creation.

Matchmaking Event in Alkmaar
At October 18th 2017 a match making event will take place in the Centre for Expertise on Green Gas (InVesta) in Alkmaar, The Netherlands, for finding new partners for the R&D and business development programme. Transnational Working Days coming up before Christmas
On December 11-13 all partners in Northern Connections are gathering for the third time in Kiel, Germany. The structure of the conference is the same as the two previous with a Steering Group Meeting Monday 11th in the afternoon and a joint dinner in the evening.
