Women's Month at UBI
For the month of August, each chapel time featured a woman from our community to share the Word. Here are a few highlights:
Lerato Nkosi from African Enterprise spoke from 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, emphasizing that even as leaders we are simply servants of the Lord, and messengers of God’s word. As a waiter in a restaurant is simply the deliverer of a meticulously prepared meal, so we too are channels God uses to deliver the message of the gospel to his people.
Evelyn Maistry, a part-time lecturer at UBI, shared lessons from Proverbs 31, using her own mother as an example. Her mother was employed as a cleaner in a hospital. She worked hard, with joy, and always used it as a way to tell people about Jesus. Though her mother earned very little as a cleaner, she always gave generously to the church.
Dr. Rowanne Marie from Seth Mokitimi spoke from 2 Samuel 21:1-14. She shared the story of Rizpah, whom she saw as a catalyst of love, hope and reconciliation. She challenged us to emerge as Rizpahs of our society, with purpose, persistence, and patience, offering protection and bringing peace to a broken world.
Mrs. Mnisi, the principal’s wife, shared the story of the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well. She encouraged us to see that once this woman had a divine encounter with the Lord, she was never the same again. We, who have also had divine encounters with the Lord, have a light inside of us that must identify us a children of the Living God. Our lifestyle and our character let people know that we are different than the rest of the world.
The final chapel of the month was a music chapel, organized by Mrs. Binion, where students and staff together enjoyed a time of praise and worship to the Lord.
