Hello The Ones!

We hope all is well, wherever in the world this note finds you.

As usual here we present the 3-5 things that have us ruminating (and doing) this week. These are a selection of ideas from our copies of The Learner and general discoveries that we make through active research. These dispatches broaden our understanding of life, with it's complications and potentialities, make us question our place and role in the world, and above all, feed our curiosity. Learning and doing trumps waiting and wondering every time.

Enjoy...

Do: Making changes can be better when taken like little gummy sweets of goodness versus large table spoons of fish oil. The scale of the habit change is the thing, and it seems tiny is the best dose when it comes to testing new behaviours. We're been looking into the work of Stanford professor BJ Fogg and his work on habits, specifically Tiny Habits. Check it out here.

GO: For the ones desirous of a random road trip, we'd recommend Norfolk. We literally packed one bag, post lunch, jumped in the car, and away we drove. A dusk walk along Brancaster Beach, where the sky appeared to melt into the sea, was accompanied by our utterly pitiable (but still lol (not lots of love)) attempts at ghost stories as we walked alongside the waves. Ickworth is another gem we popped into; a mind arresting paean to art and culture.

Watch: The world is seemingly getting noisier but day by day we are actually losing languages. Marie's Dictionary explores one woman's mission to preserve her language, Wukchumni. Language defines who we are, and this film made us reconsider how much we honour and use our own mother tongue (Punjabi) as well as how deep we go with English even. The ease of emoji's somehow doesn't communicate the full richness and depth of what we as humans need and want to, and should, say. That's it! We're signing back up to the OED's Word of the Day.

That's all for now. Remember, stay curious and keep learning.

And please reply to this note and tell us what you're interested in at the moment.

Thanks!
