IFFA Programme Announced

Tickets for Melbourne on sale NOW!
We open with the international premiere of Subdued which stars Leila Hatami, and tells the story of a recently divorced woman who has to learn to live without the support of any family.

Subdued highlights a noticeable trend this year in Iranian cinema - the emphasis on women’s issues. But, while often stories showing gender discrimination, these are not tales of the oppressed and submissive. They show strong and assertive women making and effecting their own decisions, albeit not always successfully.

Below is a full list of this year’s programme. For screening times and further information click on the links for each of the films.

Our 2017 Design
One of IFFA’s goals is to spread understanding and tolerance between Australia and Iran. As part of that we have had an ongoing relationship with Liveworm, the student design lab at the Griffith University. Once again a Griffith student has designed our new artwork.

We are proud to showcase the work of Ian D. Leishman in 2017. His brief was to retain our traditional colours and, of course, to incorporate the pomegranate! We hope you love it as much as we do. You can see the design on our website and posters during the festival.
